With the summer break here in New Zealand it is off to the beach and time to catch-up on some reading. Here are a selection of books on my list:

Edible Economics by Ha-Joon Chang, who makes challenging economic ideas delicious by plating them alongside stories about food from around the world, using the diverse histories behind familiar food items to explore economic theory.

Soccernomics by Simon Kuper and Stefan Szmanski. This is the second edition with new material, including a chapter on women’s soccer that makes a case for reparations, an analysis of the pandemic’s impact on soccer finances, and insights into the failed plan to create a European Super League.

Best things first by Bjorn Lomborg. Selected by both the FT and The Economist as one of the best books in 2023. Bjorn Lomborg presents the 12 most efficient solutions for the world’s poorest and our global Sustainable Development Goals promises.

Building Tomorrow: Averting Environmental Crisis With a New Economic System by Paddy Le Flufy. He brings together six organisational technologies being developed and implemented by pioneering experts. Each of them fundamentally redesigns a key element of our economic system. Together, they can transform it into a new system – one that can help us avoid the catastrophe looming on the horizon.
