Raja Raja Cholan is considered to be the greatest and efficient of the kings that have ruled India in the past! He is known for his generosity, diplomacy and artistic skills. The best example of his vision is the greatest living architecture and an UNESCO world heritage site The Brahadeeswara Temple at Tanjore.
Eugen Julius Theodor Hultzsch the germanindologist and epigraphist was the first to decode the inscriptions which were carved along the walls of the Brahadeeswara Temple at Tanjore after which there were numerous creations about the legacy of chola empire.
There have been so much findings in the temple and it’s neighbouring areas in recent times which have put some scholars and researchers across the globe in awe.

One such is the discovery of the ancient chola fresco paintings which were unearthed recently. Overlying these paintings were the Marathas art during the period of SarafojiI. These original chola paintings were done through wet fresco style with many layers though covered up by the modern maratha Art, On peeling off the Marathas art these paintings revealed itself from the deep inner layers which haven’t faded away for over 1000 years. Experts like Trotsky Marudhusay 72 variants of colours were used and colours were extracted from stones. Such is their skill !!!
These chola paintings lie inside deep tunnels which are still not opened to the public due to security reasons. Legends say these tunnels directly connect with the kings palace! But still a local research group has uploaded a facebook video with the paintings and comments by some expert painters, researchers and scholars. While stumbling upon this video I could spot one particular mural which portrays the legend himself.
This is the best possible image of Raja RajaCholan which hasn’t been revealed to the world yet. Seated here with his consort the artistic wonder, the arrangements of his ornaments, his posture the calmness in his face reveals how humble he was though he was the mightiest in India during the 10th century BCE.
I’m also comparing this full view image of Raja RajaCholanwith his other one to prove the authenticity of my finding.
Let his legacy reach the globe and people know his greatness. Long live Tamil!!
