This was a fun watch. I finished all the seven episodes in two days .  I really enjoyed the  Bollywood inside jokes. The  alleged spoof on Rajeev Masand was hilarious.  I am actually surprised that they went so far with it. I thought RM works for KJO ? The famous roundtable between Ananya Pandey and  Chaturvedi was also referenced .

For me however the winner was Manoj Pahwa . The chemistry between MP and Aasman’s dad, between MP and Raghav, between MP and the DJ was simply brilliant. The Panjabi one liners given to MP were simply hilarious .

Mona Singh reminded me of Emily Blunt , the twist in the last episode is faaadu !!

The story , acting, screenplay, dialogs keeps  you engaged in all episodes ( barring a few minutes in each episode)

The cameos of Emran Hashmi ( brilliant), SRK ( brutal) , Ranveer Singh, Aamir  S.S.R., the rich and famous housewives etc., ( WTF)  were all due to the clout of the producers.

Bobby Deol was brilliant as a powerful superstar  outside, helpless  dad inside, Lakhshay does not look middle class, kissi bhee angle sey, Raghav does not look convincing as  Lower middle class  (he was so convincing in Kill), however his acting is top class. The return thappad comes at a very apt moment . Manish Chaudhari acts like a typical Bollywood  Villain, no subtlety.

Now the negatives –

In terms of Bhondapan ( vulgarity ) and Over the top , I guess the apple has not fallen far from the tree. There was no need for this much foul language and vulgar scenes , he needs to know when enough is enough .

Rajat Bedi acts like SRK in Badshah and Duplicate.

There was IMO no need for the role of the brother of Karishma . Also, why glorify the Dubai key bhai log? Raees was not  enough?

Overall , I think Aryan has shown that he is ready to write, direct and present a full-fledged Masala Film. All he needs to do is to not get carried away with the crude humor .

P.S.- It takes guts to agree to do the- “ Kaun Badshah, Ghantey ka Badshah” scene.  It also takes guts to play the ruthless, charming and  cunning KJO the way KJO did . So, kudos to both of them.
